We Are Teenagers in Love

Category : Life

Today Kimmy and I celebrate 13 years of wedded bliss. That means that we are now teenagers in love!

I cannot imagine being married to anyone else and I am more and more in love with this woman as each day passes. When I am apart from her I cannot stop thinking about her or talking about her, just ask anyone who was with me when I was at NYWC in Pittsburgh.

We were really young when we got married, she was 19 and I was 22, but it didn’t matter because we were in love. I remember asking her dad for her hand in marriage and being so nervous to do so because Kimmy had told me that whenever I went to ask her dad that he was going to grill me about how we were going to make it financially, etc. So I went in fully prepared to answer all those questions when I honestly didn’t know how we would make it, but by the grace of God. Well, her dad threw a curve ball at me and told me he wasn’t concerned because he knew that God wanted us to be together and that we would make it.

I have no idea how we did make it through some of the trials that we have gone through, but the most important thing is that WE made it through them. Sure it was tough being young and both of us starting out in life together on shaky financial ground and just being young and still “finding ourselves”, but I wouldn’t trade one single trouble or trial for one less day of being married to her. I am so happy to have gone through all of those things with her. It has made us stronger as a couple and as parents.

Thank you, Kimmy, for loving me just as I am. I look forward to many, many more years of being by your side dancing to “Lady in Red”, even when we both are standing there with our walkers dancing.
