He is an inspiration to many.

I am so glad that he is back racing in le Tour this year. I hope he wins his 8th.

Great Video and Great Book

Category : le Tour, Sports

I saw this video on a friend’s blog and I had to post it here. This is so great and I am getting excited to see Lance Armstrong back in the saddle at le Tour de France. You can follow his training updates and just see what he is up to via his tweets.

For Christmas my son got me the book Lance Armstrong: Images of a Champion. I tonly covers up through his first 5 Tour wins, but it is still really cool to see the pictures. I have a dream of one day being able to go to France and witness a Tour in person. One of these days….

HE’S BACK!!!

Category : Sports

I just heard on the news that Lance Armstrong has decided to make a comeback. VeloNews has an article about it here. This is such great news for cycling and for me as a fan. I have always respected Lance and thought that he brought a level of integrity to the sport that it needed. Lance has said that he will even post his blood results on the internet for everyone to see that he is clean and he is not doing this for money, but for the joy of cycling. All I can say is…. “GO, LANCE, GO!” I can’t wait to see him in le Tour de France again and wearing the maillot jaune once again.

le Tour 2008

Category : Sports

This year’s le Tour de France was one of the best ones that I can remember. Team CSC Saxo Bank and Carlos Sastre stole the show and won it all, both the individual maillot jaune but also the team won the overall team time.

The Tour was filled with some spectacular stages that left you on the edge of your seat the whole time and cheering in the end. There was also some spectacular crashes that unfortunately claimed a few riders, but some dusted themselves off and got back in the saddle.

There was some people who tried to disgrace the beautiful sport of cycling by taking drugs to enhance their performance, but my hat goes off to the officials of le Tour and to the French authorities for not tolerating it. Everyone who tested positive was immediately thrown out of the race and arrested. Cycling is showing sport how you should handle people who try to disgrace their respective sport by taking drugs. In my opinion, people who are saying this is tearing down the sport of cycling are dead wrong, because the cycling officials are dealing with it swiftly and harshly. So I say thank you for saving this beautiful sport.

I must say that having Versus and a DVR is such a wonderful thing, because I was able to catch all the stages. So thank you U-verse for delivering such a beautiful digital signal to my house for me to enjoy le Tour. Now if only we can get Versus to do next year’s race in HD. Then I know that Andy and I will be very happy campers.

Next year look out for Christian Vandevelde of Team Garmin / Chipotle, who was this year’s tour surprise. He might just be wearing the maillot jaune next year on the Champs-Elysées

Let Alberto and Levi Ride

Category : Sports

Alberto in YellowLast year Alberto Contador won the maillot jaune in le Tour de France as a part of Team Discovery Channel. And Levi Leipheimer came in third place for Team Discover Channel. Now Team Discovery Channel has disbanded and Alberto and Levi joined up with Team Astana and the ASO (Amaury Sports Organization) has banned Team Astana from being able to ride in this year’s Tour de France, because of past issues related to illegal blood doping. But this year’s team is different.

I understand that they want to draw a hard line in the sand with teams that are caught in such practices, but giving the whole team what amounts to a death sentence is stupid. Alberto and Levi had no part in it as well as many of their fellow team members. You can read more about it here.

So Levi has started an online petition to allow him and his team to ride. You can join the campaign by going to letleviride.com and signing up. Hopefully, this will cause the ASO to realize they need to allow him and Albero to ride this year.
